Art as Truth?

Mark Rothko Presentation and Handout

One of my favorite assignments this year was my research and presentation on artist, Mark Rothko. In studying abstract art, Rothko is particularly interesting, as he takes abstraction to the next level in a method that is known as “color-blocking.” He reduces his canvas to blocks of color, believing that it is in doing so that we more accurately experience art and thus, experience truth.

Here are the slides of my presentation with images of Rothko’s art as well as brief biographical information.

Here is my two-page handout which complements the slideshow presentation.
